during my travels i tend to find many towns that arent on the charts. maybe because they’re too small, maybe because the cartographer overlooked a area. or maybe because they’re just new ones. after all, cities get bigger with time, and with that, people tend to settle in new places and with that, a new town is born. it is said that when the correct time comes, some cities might merge becoming one again. to that i dont know certainly how much time it will take until it happens. this is a story of when i passed in one of those cities out of the chart. if i knew beforehand why it was out of the chart, maybe i would have get into it too.

Story Three – Echoes of a Daily Life Song

Day One

this region i was visiting had many mountains. and the river strong who crossed it had many waterfalls, this area was knew for the high amount of pounds, made by the overflow of a waterfall. it was raining hard. and the thunders looked like lions roaring through the skies. the clashing sound of water against the floor and the trees all soaked and happy by the heavenly water falling down from the skies it was real dark, for it was night and the skies were covered in clouds. i was wearing my raincoat, which is big enough to cover all my belongings. its important for a traveler to be prepared to any kind of weather and climate. the world is unpredictable and diverse. we may never know when we are going to need a raincoat, a winter coat, nor a swimsuit. we should bring it all along with us, and yet, bring only the necessary.
walking down the road i meet up with a elder in a wagon. he greeted me saying:
” hello traveler, where are you going in the middle of this rain? ”
” im just heading to the nearby city. ”
” i see, but please young traveler. be careful of where are you going. some travelers get lost over the night here. its a pretty dangerous place, and easy to get caught. ”
” thanks for the advice Mr. i will take care. ”
” its not much about taking care traveler, but i guess you will be ok. but, just in case, i have a charm here who we give to travelers in our city, so they wont get astray. ”
” thank you again Mr. i will accept your gift. ”
” it was nothing traveler. im just wishing for your safety. ”
then he handed me a small charm made out of grass fiber. it was a cute circle with a cross on the center, and at its center a small red stone. he told me that this charm was made to avoid danger as many times as the red stone could withstand. when broken, the red stone would have any power left to protect you from danger.
then we parted ways. the rain keep on falling hard and the sky keep on sending thunders over the land. as i walked through the road, i started to see some colorful lights, tunes of red, green, brown, white, and yellow. in a charming and rustic pattern. i thought that had found my destination.
because it was raining i keep my pace, walking the fast as i could in order to get there as soon as possible. to prevent catching a cold. in about ten minutes i arrived the place. it was a small town with houses made out of wood and a bit of stone, the walls were made of wood also, there was a river dividing it on the half, it wasnt big though, a pretty small town. people were walking the streets and chatting as enjoying the night. i felt something weird after passing through the gates, but it was probably my imagination. i took shelter of the rain, which curiously didnt lasted long after i went into the town. i was heading my way to a inn when a kid came to me and said:
” you arent from around are you? ”
” no, im not. ”
” oh! so you are a traveler, that is nice, we love when travelers come to stay with us. ”
” ah, but i dont plan to stay long. just for the night. the whole day was cloudy and suddenly a rain started to fall. ”
” there wasnt any rain, as far as i know. ” the kid said.
” there wasnt? but it was raining until a while ago. ”
” maybe you really need a rest traveler. i hope you are alright by tomorrow. ”
” oh thank you. ”
” see you then. ”
” bye ” i said politely as the kid went away.
oh well it was weird, im pretty sure it was raining. because well… my raincoat was all soaked. and if the kid couldnt see this, hmm, i really dont have any explanation to give. but then, anyway, i went to the inn, getting there a young pretty lady greeted me.
” evening traveler ” she said smiling
” evening miss ”
” how can i help you ”
” see, i would like a room for the night. ”
” just for the night? you sure you dont want to stay two more days? ”
” why would i? ”
” there is a festival being held in two days. ”
” ah, i wish i could, but i have small money here, i must get to the next town to make a bit more. ”
” there is no need, there i can arrange a room for you for free. ”
” ah, but, i really dont need it. ”
” no, really, its alright. you can have it for free. ”
” but i must get to the other town as fast as i can. ”
” what is it? hey, just a bit of fun would hurt you, right? ”
” nah, thank you, but im really going to stay just for a single night. ”
” ok, by tomorrow you might change your mind, if you do so, please come and talk to me, i will be happy to host you through those days. ”
” i will make sure i come. thanks lady. ”
” you’re welcome. ”
i went to my room, well it was odd, i looked at the window, but the outside scenery was much more darker than the usual. and i dont remember a waterfall so nearby. in fact, i couldnt even listen the waterfall sound. i let it pass though, it was late, i was tired, and i withstood the whole rain. i was in need of a nice night of sleep. i also noticed that there wasnt any stars wither moon on the sky. why was it? maybe the lights of the town were enough to surpass the star lights. and maybe the moon was new too, those were minor concerns compared to how tired i was and how much i wished for a night of sleep.
